For a country like Pakistan where the forest land is of only 3 percent we are quite fortunate to have an apex predator like leopard but despite of nature being soo generous to us we have been unsuccessful in taking care of our wildlife and forests .
Leapards are solitary animals that likes to hunt and live alone. They are mostly found in the damp rainy forests. In Pakistan they are located in the margalla hills of Islamabad , and moving further towards the north side there presence is shown in the mountains of galliyat and muzafrabad .
The threats that leopards face are deforestation, shortage of food , and illegal hunting . It is long known that there are black markets in muzafrabad which are involved in illegal selling of Leapords skin and other body parts , yet the government is hesitant to take actions .

In a recent survey it was found out that their are only 30 leapords left in Pakistan which is quite an alarming stat meanwhile in India the population of Leapords is flourishing as they have taken strong steps in order to preserve their habitat. It is estimated that their are 2000 Leapords present in India .

In order to protect these species our state institutions really need to stand up and needs to take this matter seriously other wise we wouldn’t be able to bring them back once they are gone
